This started out as a clean and simple card that I wanted to create using the chalkboard technique and Simon Says Stamp’s “Card Exchanging Friends” stamp set. The stamps were included in the August Card Kit.

You will see that I didn’t achieve the clean and simple look, as I ended up cutting the card down to remove all that extra “white space.” I also added more grunge than necessary ’cause if I can’t have layers, I gotta have grunge. LOL.CAS-Experiment-No1-Web

The twist on the chalkboard technique came with the “bright” idea to do an opposite color scheme. White and black makes…wait for it…whiteboard. Okay, so it isn’t as cool or as trendy as chalkboard, but I wanted to see what would happen if I tried a similar technique.

It sort of looks like a whiteboard. Or it just looks like I’m a careless stamper. I don’t know which one.

With school starting soon in these parts, I took the chalkboard and whiteboard concept literally and made frames for my little 3×4 note cards. The frames help contain all that empty space somehow. 🙂 These would be cute for teacher or lunch box notes.

What do you think? All comments are welcome.

Thanks for checking out my little experiment!

Chalkboard Technique (as used above):

1. Stamping image/sentiment in pigment or Versamark ink on black -smooth- cardstock

2. Heat emboss the image with white embossing powder

3. Stamp over the same image/sentiment with white pigment ink, only offsetting it a bit

4. Smudge the pigment ink a bit (or a lot!) before it dries to create the chalk dust effect

For the Whiteboard, I followed similar steps, only using Black and grey ink. Apparently I don’t have black pigment ink. Or maybe it is still hiding in a moving box.
