I was inspired to create a couple of cards by the OnlineCardClasses.Com new class called Pattern Play. It is all about choosing, mixing and matching patterns in your cardmaking. The two cards I’ve created are for Day 1.
When I was done both cards, I realized that I did not use a single stamp when creating these cards. Not one!
My main goal was to use the same large polka dot pattern paper in two separate cards. Because it has so many different colors of dots, I was able to choose two different color schemes when selecting the other papers. All patterned paper is from Fancy Pants 6×6 paper pad called “Down by the Shore.” Love the nautical theme and colors!
The first one is more nautical-inspired with the red, navy, tan and shades of blue dots from the paper. I added the navy stripe and a smaller red polka dot paper. For the sentiment, I used a leftover banner die cut that was sitting on my desk. I just backed it with matching navy paper and inked the edges to match my color scheme. I think this would do well as a masculine birthday card.
This second one showcases how hard it is to cut polka dot paper. I ended up with the sliver of orange dots at the top of the paper (Jennifer TOLD us to avoid this, LOL) so I added orange in the embellishments to run with it. Alternatively, I could have trimmed down the card and made it a smaller size. It would have looked more designed, but at 11pm at night, I was done with it!
So would you have trimmed it down, or just highlighted the oops?
Thanks for coming by!
Stephanie

Hi! I also take part in the class. I think that you managed using those large polka dots really well!
